John R. DiCaro attended the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law (Juris Doctor, 1966), he obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado.
He was admitted to the California Bar in 1966.
In 1986, Mr. DiCaro was invited and inducted as a Fellow in the AMERICAN COLLEGE OF TRIAL LAWYERS. He served as president of the Orange County Chapter of AMERICAN BOARD OF TRIAL ADVOCATES holding the rank of DIPLOMATE. Mr. DiCaro maintains an AV Peer Review Rating with Martindale Hubbell.
Mr. DiCaro has tried in excess of 150 cases before courts of general jurisdiction, including Superior Courts and United States District Courts. These cases involved catastrophic injury and complex multi-party litigation; including suits for professional liability (Medical, Legal and Architectural), will contests, contracts, general business and election law (first amendment rights).
Mr. DiCaro has served as a hearing officer for Hospital Staff Privileges and as an arbitrator and judge pro tem for the Orange County Superior Court. He served as chair of the Medical Malpractice Subcommittee of the Professional Liability Section of the American Bar Association. Mr. DiCaro is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and all of the federal courts in California. He is a member and past director of the Southern California Defense Counsel. He is co-founder and associate in Resolution Associates, acting as a private mediator in alternative dispute resolution and holds the rank of Master Bencher in the AMERICAN INNS OF COURT.
Mr. DiCaro is a member of CALIFORNIA SOCIETY FOR HEALTHCARE (CSHA) attorney and CALIFORNIA ACADEMY OF ATTORNEYS FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS (CAAHP)
Mr. DiCaro has lectured extensively on trial practice and medical malpractice litigation with various continuing education groups, as well as having presented lectures to Southern California Defense Counsel and presentations to the American Board of Trial Advocates. He served as a Clinical Professor at Pepperdine University Law School.
In his leisure time, Mr. DiCaro is an experienced sailor having cruised in Tonga, Honduras, the Grenadines, British Virgin Islands, the Greek Islands, the Whitsundays, Sea of Cortez and Beliz. He is an avid golfer and enjoys traveling in Italy and cooking with his wife Beth. He takes pride in and looks forward to his first olive oil production soon.
