David M. Balfour joined the firm in February of 2000. In January 2004, David was offered and accepted partnership with the firm.
He received his undergraduate degree in economics from Yale University in 1996. He then attended law school at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law earning his Juris Doctor in 1999. As part of his legal education, he externed for the Honorable Justice Don Work of the Fourth District, Division One Court of Appeal. He also worked with the California Attorney General’s office in the Antitrust Section of their Civil Division.
David was admitted to practice in California in December, 1999. He is admitted to practice in State and Federal Court in San Diego. His practice consists primarily of representing health care providers and facilities in litigation.
He was co-chair of the Law & Medicine Committee of the San Diego County Bar Association from 2006-2010. He is a member of, and Regional Vice President for San Diego Region of, the California Academy of Attorneys of Healthcare Practitioners (CAAHCP). He is also a member of the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders (SOHL), the local chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
Having grown up in San Diego, David is delighted to return to his hometown as a member of the firm. His interests outside the office include sailboat racing and biking. In his spare time, he is an active volunteer with Genesis International Orphanage Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children of the Baja California orphanages. He currently serves as the President of the GIOF Board of Directors.
